Movers and Shakers

I know, I know. So many friends said don't rush Little Philip to start crawling or walking. But when he seemed to be lagging behind his peers (by lagging I mean three days behind), I began to fret. I regret it. Little man is crawling everywhere, getting into everything, and moving too fast for those "mom" eyes that are still forming in the back of my head! So, Big Philip and I have spent the last two weeks trying to install a few safety items around the house. Cabinet locks don't work. Little man takes them off and then proceeds to pour hair gel all over himself and the floor. So, after spending money on the latest gadgets we've found a basic ponytail holder is the perfect cabinet lock.

They seem pointless since Little Philip always has some bruise, scratch, or bump on the head but at least when friends and family come over they'll think we are responsible parents. We really are trying!

Moss Beach Week 2006

We've not posted in way too long. We've been on the road for the first part of June, traveling to see family and friends. The Moss Family reunion was the first week of June and was held at the Beach Club at Ft. Morgan near Gulf Shores. This is the first time Philip and I have taken a full week's vacation since our honeymoon, almost five years ago. Being with family and seeing Little Philip play in the sun, sand, and surf with his many, many first and second cousins, did our hearts good. We have so many pictures but here are a few of our favorites.

The Three Philips

While at the Moss beach reunion we got to see lots of relatives. One of the ones that we most wanted to get a picture with is our Uncle "Buddy". Uncle Buddy's real name is Philip Moss and is Big Philip's namesake. The picture is the "three Philips".

Memorial Day with the Cotners

So many memories...where to start! We spent Memorial Day weekend with our friend Matt, Liz, and Matthew Cotner in Destin, FL. Matthew is 15 months, just fourth months older than Little Philip. Needless to say, cameras and camcorders were flashing constantly as we captured our little boys' reactions to sand and sea. And since it was vacation, they also enjoyed munching on watermelon and popsicles together. They even had their first taste of a Hot Now Krispy Kreme doughnut. We are headed to Moss Beach Week next week in Ft. Morgan and thankfully, we now know that Little Philip will love it!

Mamies Birthday

On the weekend when Renie was "home alone" lil Philip and I went to Brownsville for my parents 60th surprise party. Emily planned the entire event and it went well. Here are a couple of pictures from the weekend with the family.

Home Alone (without the Phillipi)

It was a first for me this weekend. The two Philips went to Brownsville, TN for a surprise birthday party for Mamie and Big George Moss. I had a big event at Birmingham-Southern College which was the Sesquicentennial Celebration and Alumni Reunion Weekend. It was exhausting but such a great event to coordinate through our office of Student Affairs along with Alumni Affairs/Advancement. Here is a picture of the fireworks at dusk. It is now 10:45 p.m. and I've called Big Philip to check on him and "the boy" about a dozen times since they left midday on Friday. Two nights away from his Mommy! I hear he has been great and I wish I could say the same. But as a friend pointed out, this is good bonding time between father and son. I can't wait for them to get back in town on Sunday afternoon! I'm going to try to make the most of it by taking a long hot bubble bath and then tackling some chores while I don't have any mommy duties:
Bathe the dog
Walk the dog
Love on the dog
Tell the dog that we still care about him and know he still exists
Iron
Sew on some missing buttons from clothes
Sew some new bibs for Little Philip
Wash ALL the dirty clothes, even the ones I've avoided for weeks
Vacuum and clean Philip's car
Nap
