Monday night fun

Lil Philip and I had our usual Monday night party. Tonight we played on the floor, took a bath, and worked on our speaking skills (we are not really babbling yet).

Race Finish for Ellen, Elizabeth and me

Here is the official finish-line photo from the Mercedes Marathon. The pic is small because it is too expensive to buy. Yes, it was as cold as it looks. I pulled my head-band off just before I got to the finish line since it was soaked.

Also included are picture of Elizabeth and Ellen who both ran well. You can check the results at http://www.mercedesmarathon.com

Mississippi State vs. Ole Miss

On Saturday we had about 10 people over to watch the Miss State/Ole Miss basketball game. Some of Renie's co-workers, church friends (most of whom were MSU alums), and some family members all piled into our den. I made Rotel and smoked sausage and Renie served fresh fruit. Lil Philip had a lot of fun playing with Sadie.
(I can't get the pictures to post right now- I will try again tomorrow)

What does your Candy Heart Say?

Your Candy Heart Says "Hug Me"

A total sweetheart, you always have a lot of love to give out.
Your heart is open to where ever love takes you!

Your ideal Valentine's Day date: a surprise romantic evening that you've planned out

Your flirting style: lots of listening and talking

What turns you off: fighting and conflict

Why you're hot: you're fearless about falling in love
Not sure how accuate this is but I found it on a friend's blog and wanted to share for Valentine's Day.

My First Valentine's Day Card

Yesterday Lil Philip got his first Valentine's Day Card in the mail from Mamie and Big George. He has not received very much real mail so we decided to give it to him a day early. He was very excited to get it. He is looking forward to future holidays and more cards.

Mommy's night out...

While mommy was away tonight I taught Philip everything that I knew about horses- which isn't much. We don't have the real thing at our house in Birmingham so we had to pretend. Though he can sit up without much problem sitting in a saddle was a new experience and judging by his facial expression I am not sure that he likes it.

Philip's first snow

On Saturday afternoon we had a steady snow for about 15 minutes. Big and Lil Philip went outside to play. However, it didn't stick and it didn't last. It did bring back good memories of the Kentucky winters. If you look hard enough you can see the snow flakes. (Also, remember that I am running in the half-marathon the next morning!) The forecast this week is for warmer weather so I guess Lil Philip will have to wait for a ski vacation to really experience snow.

Yesterday I ran in the Mercedes (Half) Marathon. I had been training for a little over two weeks by running with Elizabeth, Ellen, and Riley. I felt I could complete the 13-mile run but expected to walk for several miles. The run up Greeenspring Highway was tough but Renie, Robb, Irene, and Lil Philip were waiting to cheer me on when I turned onto Valley Ave. After that there was only one more big hill before the run into the city with lots of down-hill runs. I was able to finish! Around mile 11 there was a beer stand giving away Michelob Ultra Amber. They had a sign that said sometime like "You know you want to quit. Have a beer" . Though I did have a beer I didn't quit. My official chip time was 2:17:04. I started running with Ellen but got separated in the crowd around mile 2. Her official time was 2:07:30. Elizabeth ran in the relay with some students in her OT class. The official results for the relays have not been posted but they finished the maraton in about 3:30.

My overall men's place was #821 out of 1140 runners. Also, there were also 520 women that came in at a faster time than me! I guess this means that I have a lot of room for improvement. I am taking the next few days off to let my swollen ankles rest then I am hitting the road again. Emily tells me that she is training for the Nashville Half Marathon so I may be joining her for that in April.

Two Nights in a Row!

On Tuesday nights Renie has her Bible study. They are reading Calm my Anxious Heart. Renie leaves around 7 pm- after Little Philip has had dinner. This leaves about an hour and a half for him and daddy to play. That is just enough time to have fun but not get in too much trouble. After all the fun with Riley last night, Julep was the target for tonight. We also had fun discussing the upcoming NFL draft by reading The Sporting News. Finally, instead of reading a book to go to sleep we like to eat books.

When Mommy is away

On Monday nights Renie sometimes has to work late. Those nights are lots of fun for Lil Philip because he gets to play with Daddy. Mommy doesn't know it but daddy is teaching him to walk and talk. One of these days we are going to surprise her with all that we have learned. For now, we are just going to share a few of our moments together. The top picture is Lil Philip eating his wash cloth when he took a bath. The bottom picture is Riley getting lots of Philp love.
